BRIEF HISTORY:

  • Located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

  • The motto is Veritas et Virtus meaning ''Truth and Virtue''

  • Founded by Hugh Henry Brackenridge in 1787

  • The Western University of Pennsylvania - intended to be the western sister to UPenn

  • After the Great Fire of 1845 lessons were moved to Trinity Church since most of the records and files were destroyed

  • In 1908 renamed as University of Pittsburgh
