BRIEF HISTORY:

  •  Located in Copenhagen, Denmark

  • The  university's motto is: Coelestem adspicit lucem, meaning “It (the eagle) beholds the celestial light”

  • The amount of students is approximately 36,700 

  • Student-faculty ratio is 9:1

  • Founded on 1 June 1479 as the oldest university in Denmark 

  • Established by King Christian I after he was granted an approval for its establishment by Pope Sixtus IV

MASTER’S DEGREE PROGRAMMES AND COURSES IN ENGLISH:

  • The University of Copenhagen does not offer a full bachelor’s degree in English

  • There are 57 master’s degree programmes taught in English, such as Molecular Biomedicine, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, Neuroscience and more

  • Application for a master’s degree costs 750 DKK (about 100€) and it’s returned when you start studying at the university

  • You can choose from approximately 200 bachelor’s or master’s courses available in English (a full list is available 2-3 months before the semester)

  • The University Garden located on the Frederiksberg campus was established in 1858
