BRIEF HISTORY:

BUT was established in 1899

Over 18 100 students are enrolled at 8 faculties and 3 university institutes

It was only the second university in the country to receive the prestigious ECTS Label and Diploma Supplement certificate

BUT initially offered a single course in civil engineering with only four professors as staff, but soonly opened courses in mechanical, cultural or electrical engineering

The school originally carried the name Imperial and Royal Franz Joseph Czech Technical University in Brno as the emperor of that time founded it

After the year 1989, the university was reorganised and in addition to the technical fields focused on chemistry, economy and arts

BUT offers courses in English on all eight faculties
