Sexual Dysfunction and Menopause: A brief Insight

Updated: Jun 12

"The Pervasiveness of the Female Sexual Dysfunction in Menopausal Women"

Have you ever wondered how with age a woman's sex life gets affected? Or, what is menopause and when will a woman's menstrual cycle end for life?

The first answer is yes, menopause is a biological process that normally marks the end of a woman's reproductive years, as menopausal symptoms such as pain during sexual intercourse due to virginal dryness, can significantly impact a woman's sex life.

Menopause is when a woman stops having her menstrual cycle which is usually from the loss of ovarian follicular activity and this leads to drastic changes in hormones as the estrogen level decreases, FSH(Follicle-Stimulating Hormone) and LH(Luteinizing Hormone) levels increase, and the levels of prolactin, thyroid and parathyroid hormone also decrease.

Thus, our aim should be to improve the knowledge and the amount of certified research available that would help us understand both existing and concurrent female sexual dysfunction and to also develop treatments. To understand the correlation between menopause, estrogen and female sexual dysfunction. And hence, ameliorate the lives of our ladies.
