BRIEF HISTORY:

  • Located in Oxford, London

  • Oxford's motto is Dominus Illuminatio mea,  meaning ''The Lord is my light''

  • The number of students attending is approximately 26,00

  • About 30 prime ministers have attended this university

  • According to legend, the university was founded when Alfred the Great happened to meet some monks in the year 872, Oxford, and had a scholarly debate  which lasted several days

  • In reality, there is evidence of teaching as early as 1096, making  it the oldest English-speaking university in the world

  • In 1167, the school grew immensely when Henry II. banned students from England to attend the University of Paris.

  • Oxford is not a campus university , it consists of many buildings, libraries, gardens, colleges , halls  and and other amazing facilities  scattered around the centre of Oxford

  • Some of these buildings are open for visitors during the day

  • You can choose from over 400 different clubs and societies

  • During their studies, students belong to Oxfords'colleges.

  • There are over 30 colleges located around Oxford’s city centre. These are safe and welcoming communities where students spend much of their time.
