BASIC INFORMATION:

BRIEF HISTORY:

  • According to the Times Higher Education rankings, UCT Prague ranks among the 4% of the best world universities

  • There are approximately 4200 students

  • The school maintains a 1:20 pedagogue to student ratio

  • UCT is the most active Czech university participant in the Erasmus+ student exchange programme

  • UCT Prague was founded in 1952 but its origins date back to 1807 

  • Until 1920 a chemistry department was part of THE Czech Technical University, but later transformed into School of Chemical Technology

  • UCT Prague was the first Czech university authorised to provide the Eurobachelor degree

  • A number of key historical figures relate to UCT Prague: Vladimir Prelog, Nobel Prize winner, Otto Wichterle, inventor of contact lenses, and Emil Votoček, author of the Czech chemical nomenclature

UNDERGRADUATE COURSES:

CAMPUS INFO:

  • UCT Prague offers limited accommodation options in dormitories Volha and Sázava located in the southern part of Prague near the metro station Chodov

  • Its students can participate in many leisure, cultural or sport activities (student amateur theatre, choir, ice-hockey, dragon boats races or the chemist´s run)

  • University facilities are located in the heart of the engineering campus in Dejvice, just a few hundred meters from Prague Castle, and are accessible by public transport

  • UCT Prague operates the ChemTK library, which collection includes more than 100,000 books, subscription to 300 professional periodicals and provides electronic access to over 2,500 scientific journals
